Aluminum and plastic separation can be separated with chemical solvents or with aluminum-plastic electrostatic separators. In order to avoid the occurrence of pollution, people now use aluminum-plastic electrostatic separators to separate aluminum and plastic, which is also a better aluminum-plastic separation method.

How to separate aluminum and plastic?

The aluminum-plastic electrostatic separator can separate a wide range of aluminum-plastic materials. Common aluminum-plastic packaging bags, aluminum-plastic medicine boards and aluminum-composite panels can be crushed and sorted by aluminum-plastic electrostatic separators, and the separation purity has reached more than 99%. The aluminum-plastic electrostatic separator adopts dry physical separation, which is simple to operate and pollution-free.

Introduction to the method of separating aluminum and plastic from aluminum-plastic electrostatic separator:

1. Crushing and grinding

Before sorting aluminum and plastic, the aluminum-plastic materials are crushed and ground by the aluminum-plastic electrostatic separator, and the aluminum and plastic particles are ground to 0.02mm-0.03mm, and then sorted by the electrostatic separator. During the grinding process, the particle size of the grinding powder in the mill and the pore size of the screen can be adjusted according to the needs of the user.

2. Electrostatic sorting

The milled aluminum and plastic can be sorted by an electrostatic sorter. According to the difference between aluminum and plastic, the electrostatic sorter uses the principle of corona electric field conductivity in a closed high-voltage electric field to sort out the highly conductive plastic, and the rest is aluminum metal.

After passing the above process, aluminum and plastic can be sorted separately, the production line has strong processing capacity, one feeding, multi-machine cooperation to complete, crushing is more efficient, no secondary pollution.

Wow 99% purity? That’s way more effective than I expected. Might be worth investing in one of these machines.

Anyone know where I can buy a small-scale version of this for home use? Seems like it could be useful for DIY projects.

The electrostatic separation part is kinda confusing – does it mean the plastic gets charged and aluminum doesn’t? Would love more details on that.

@value3yeah the plastic gets the charge, aluminum stays grounded, then the belts fling them apart. i can dm you a slow-mo clip

As someone who works in recycling, this method is legit. We’ve been using similar tech at our facility for about 2 years now with great results.

Lol I just throw everything in the same bin and hope for the best. Maybe I should start paying attention to this separation stuff 😅

Interesting that they grind it down to 0.02mm first. Wonder how much energy that grinding process consumes compared to the separation itself.

This is cool and all, but what about the cost? These machines can’t be cheap to operate/maintain.

The no secondary pollution part is what really sells it for me. Environmental tech that doesn’t create new problems while solving old ones.
